Registrations for this event are closed.

Our Transition Program is designed for adults (27 years and over) who have developed the basic skills taught in a Learn to Row course or equivalent.  The course provides an opportunity to train with other novice rowers and learn to work as a team, improving your rowing and crewing skills as you gain confidence and enjoyment with each session.

Rowing is a highly technical sport that requires months of dedicated technique training and a moderate to high level of fitness and personal discipline. It is not a sport that can be learned quickly - our Transition Program will provide continuous reinforcement and stroke correction to get you on the right track.

The program will develop and refine your rowing and boat handling skills progressively over the 8 week program.  By the end of the course (8 water sessions and 8 land (ergo) sessions), we anticipate you will be proficient at the sport to a level where you can understand and react to how the boat behaves, identify opportunities for improvement, and start the process of fault correction on your own.  You should also, at the end of the program, be at a stage where you feel confident to row unsupervised/coached crew as part of a crew.

You will be coached by Level 1 or Level 2 certified coaches, and we endeavor to group rowers based on their level of experience to make the process as beneficial for you as possible.

The program will run from December 4th, 2021 with a break over Christmas-New Year and then to January 29, 2022.  We will train on the water once per week.  Land sessions on the ergo will be scheduled post Week 1.

The Transition program costs $250, which includes Rowing Queensland Registration/Insurance for recreational rowers.

This can be paid by EFT into Dragons bank account:

Please note:  Membership of our club is by invitation only.

We aim to maintain a club that is both competitively and socially rewarding for our members, and therefore look for both technical and cultural fit when choosing members of our club.  Participants who progress through the Transition Program to a standard where they can row unsupervised/coached on the water in a crew by the end of the sessions will usually be ready for membership, however this is not guaranteed.
