Event information

Registrations for this event are closed.

Our Off-Season Junior Rowing Program is designed to offer St Margaret’s rowers the opportunity to row for enjoyment over the Spring/Summer months, and at the same time give them an opportunity to continue to practice their skills in a safe, friendly and fun environment.

The program concentrates on rowing skills and not fitness/ergo work to ensure participants have a break from the rigors of rowing training throughout the school season.

Details

The program is run on Saturday mornings, 7am - 9am.  All sessions are optional.  No training occurs in the school holidays.

The dates the program is on offer in Term 4 are:  28/10, 4/11, 11/11, 18/11, 25/11

In Term 1, the program is offered on:  10/2, 17/2, 24/2, 3/3, 10/3, 17/3, 24/3

Program

Participants will be exposed to rowing in a number of different boats, with an emphasis on smaller boats (Singles & Doubles) but also quads.

The senior/open rowers will also be given the opportunity to row in sweep boats (Pair, Fours and Eights) depending on their progression and competence.

For specialist coxswains, we also offer specific cox coaching to further their skills in this area, and also encourage them to improve their rowing skills at the same time – a good cox needs to understand and know how to row.

We will attempt to mix up the cohort to match rowers of similar size and skill level and to encourage new friendships amongst the participants.

The girls will be accompanied by coaches and experience rowers from the club, most of whom have coached athletes in school based programs.

Experience Required

The program is open to all St Margaret’s rowers who have completed at least one year in a school based program.

Cost

$150 (we don’t charge GST).  This includes the use of club equipment and facilities.
