A fun introduction to the skills and knowledge of rowing. The program covers all basics, from the equipment used and how to handle it on and off the water, as well as ergo and on water sculling or sweep rowing technique.
Rowing is a highly technical sport that requires months of dedicated technique training and a moderate to high level of fitness and personal discipline. Rowing is not a sport that can be learned quickly. A Learn to Row course will give you the basics required to progress to the next level of development.
4 Sessions over two weekends (Sat & Sun 7am - 10am). All participants will have the opportunity to learn both sweep and scull technique. You will be coached by a team of Level 1 and Level 2 certified coaches.
Expected outcomes from the course:
- Water safety/ navigating the river/ Safety positions
- Basic Rowing sequence
- Rowing Terminology
- How to use an ergo
Pre-requisites for enrolling in the Course:
- Aged 27 or older (we are a Masters Only Club)
- Must have prior experience in a row boat, i.e., at minimum:
- Rowed at school
- Have participated in a "Come and Try Day"
- Completed a Corporate Regatta
The Learn to Row Programme 2020:
The program will run over a series of 4 sessions, held over two consequtive weekends. Attendance at all sessions is a must if you wish to gain the most from the program and advance to the Transition to Independence (TTI) program.

ï‚· Sunday 25th October, 7am - 10am
ï‚· Saturday 31st October, 8am – 11am
ï‚· Sunday 1st November, 7am - 10am
Cost: $215 (includes Rowing Queensland insurance).
